John, So sorry I can't be there to say goodbye to you, we only worked together in the Map Services Bureau for about 18 months or so, but during that time life was never boring, and while your balancing of (unsealed) toner cartridges was less successful (the 'black cloud' was testament to that), your sayings, and pearls of wisdom were legendary and could've filled a book. As a retired Royal Marine myself, your levels of fitness were amazing and you never seemed to tire. So farewell old friend it was a privilege to have worked with the HCC legend that was John Stepney.
